There’s a new church forming in our area. It’s part of the North American Old Catholic Church and ALL are welcome.
This is not the kind of church where you’ll be asked to pray the gay away or be made to feel as if you must live a celibate and lonely life to practice your faith. This church is open to all: gay, straight, bi, trans, believers, nonbelivers, doubters and those who have been beaten by the Christian Fundamentalist hate that has infected our area. This priest, Father Bryan Marabanian, really does believe that God loves everyone as He made them. You will not feel rejection or the need to hide a part of who are at this church.
Yeah, I didn’t believe it either until I started speaking with him a few months ago.
Tomorrow we’re having our first mass and if you’re interested in attending please contact me at cupnjava [at] gmail [dot] com[merical]. If you can’t make it tomorrow, but would like to be invited to other masses or picnics or anything we may decide to do (we’re thinking about having Bible study at some coffee shop in the area) please feel free to e-mail me and I’ll keep you informed. If you’d rather e-mail him, let me know and I’ll get you his e-mail.
If you’re concerned about the crackpot preachers that seem to be everywhere in our area, Father Bryan is a seminary graduate with a Master’s in divinity. He recently moved to this area from Chicago. His partner, John, has lived in this area for decades.
Just to show you how much Father Bryan really does mean all of this “all are welcomed” business, he knows I’m a professional homoerotica writer and a Pagan and he STILL welcomes me. And he totally teased me about going to a bar and ordering coffee as he sipped on whatever it was that he drank.
